Former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau indicates Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua is negotiating with Jubilee over a possible alliance.

Speaking on Kameme TV on Monday, August 11, 2025, Kamau, who is a staunch Jubilee Party loyalist, proposed that the two parties merge into one political party, adding that Jubilee is free to enter into an alliance with any political group of their choice.

Heย noted thatย such politicalย changesย areย theย normย in Kenya, especiallyย whenย a party leaderย hasย completedย their term inย officeย andย retired.

According to Kamau, history shows that another party often rises to take the outgoing partyโ€™s place. โ€œDo you remember during Mwai Kibakiโ€™s era, we had PNU? When the Jubilee Party came, the PNU sponsored candidates, and we all saw what happened.

โ€œFrom my observation, when a political partyโ€™s leader finishes serving in power and he or she retires, another party comes according to my historical view on political parties,โ€ he said.

Kamau noted that the DCP currently enjoys strong support in the Mt Kenya region.

He said he understood that talks between Jubilee and the DCP had been ongoing for some time and that there was no hostility between the two parties.

โ€œThe party that has masses in Mt Kenya is the DCP. I know DCP and Jubilee parties have been talking for a while now, and there is no hostility. We will wait patiently and see the outcome,โ€ย Kamau stated.

He added that if Jubilee were to form an alliance, it should partner with a party that already has strong grassroots backing.ย โ€œIf I were to advise Jubilee Party, I would tell them to join a party that has the masses, and that is DCP,โ€ย he said.
