National Super League debutants Kabati Youth have termed their 1-1 draw as an eye opening start to their journey in the countryโ€™s second tier league.

Kabati Youth was held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Vihiga United at Thika Stadium.Kabati commonly called ย the โ€˜Beesโ€™ by their ardent supporters earned promotion to this yearโ€™s nsl and are eager to leave a mark.

Club head coach Joel Mungai who masterminded their promotion praised his charges despite drawing at home saying the team had picked lessons during the match.

โ€˜โ€™The first game in NSL though we drew I am not disappointed with the result since its our first time we are going to work on our mistakes.Right now at this level any mistake you get punished ,we promise to work on it and not to recur. We urge our fans to keep supporting usโ€™โ€™,Mungai said.

โ€˜โ€™Todayโ€™s game was tough and we worked hard for the draw and we are ready to push again push for even our promotionโ€™โ€™Kabati youth striker Dominic said.

Probably the naivety of playing a stage than they were last season showed earlier in the game after goalkeeper Paul Kamau conceded an easy goal to hand Vihiga the lead before finding an equalizer by Ferran Dominic.

Vihiga United headcoachย  Milton Kidiga remarked of his opponents:โ€™โ€™ They were ready for their debut in football they say there is no easy teamโ€™โ€™.

โ€˜โ€™The match was tough,we managed to get a draw awayโ€™โ€™ Vihiga United forward Douglas Ashibea noted.

Meanwhile Nairobi City began their life in NSL with a narrow 1-0 loss to MOFA as another former premier league side FC Talanta defeated Kibera Black Ctars 1-0 to begin their promotion quest on a winning note.
