On September 7, 2025, KCB Rugby cemented their status as a powerhouse in Kenyan rugby by winning their fourth consecutive Kabeberi 7s title.
The team defeated a determined Daystar Falcons squad 20-10 at Nairobiโs RFUEA Grounds.
This victory, which marks the fifth leg of the 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, puts KCB in a strong position to win the overall circuit championship as the season heads into its final tournament.
KCB, under the leadership of coach Andrew Amonde, started the final strong, scoring three quick tries from Elvis Olukusi, Vincent Onyala, and Samuel Asati.ย
Olukusi added another try to give KCB a commanding 20-0 lead at halftime.ย
Daystar, playing in their first-ever Kabeberi 7s final, showed resilience in the second half with tries from Kenya Sevens star Patrick Odongo and Tony Ogoma.ย
Although they didnโt win, Daystarโs performance showed their significant improvement this season.ย
Their journey to the final included a notable 12-10 upset over Strathmore Leos in the semifinals.
This yearโs Kabeberi 7s, named in honor of Mwamba RFC legend George Mwangi Kabeberi, highlighted the growing talent in Kenyan rugby.ย
In the womenโs division, Mwamba RFC took home the Stephanie Memorial Trophy, winning 17-12 in sudden death against Impala RFC to clinch their 2025 circuit title.ย
KCBโs recent victory not only secures their sixth Kabeberi title but also ties them with Mwamba for the most consecutive wins in the tournamentโs history.ย
With just one leg leftโthe Dala 7sโKCB needs only a few points to clinch the overall circuit championship, holding a nine-point lead over their closest rivals, Strathmore Leos.ย
