Acting Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) Director General, Eng. Luka Kimeli, has toured the Webuye Weighbridge along the Eldoretโ€“Malaba Road as part of efforts to strengthen Axle Load Control operations on the busy transit corridor.

During the visit, Eng. Kimeli emphasized the Authorityโ€™s commitment to enforcing axle load limits, saying compliance is key to preserving Kenyaโ€™s multi-billion-shilling road network.

โ€œOverloaded trucks are one of the biggest threats to road sustainability. Strict enforcement and continuous sensitization remain our strongest tools,โ€ he noted.

The Webuye Weighbridge, operated by Savory Agencies Limited on behalf of KeNHA, has recorded near-total compliance among cross-border transporters. However, local truckersโ€”particularly loose cargo haulersโ€”remain a challenge.

KeNHA is complementing weighbridge operations with new virtual weighbridges along key highways to catch offenders in real time.

Officials say the empty truck holding park at Webuye signals the success of compliance measures.

Eng. Kimeli, who recently assumed office following the exit of outgoing DG Kungโ€™u Ndungโ€™u, is currently on a countrywide inspection tour of major road infrastructure projects and enforcement facilities.
