Kenya and the US State of California are deepening cooperation in innovation, sustainability, and shared prosperity, with a strong focus on climate action, clean energy, and advanced technology.

Speaking in Nairobi while hosting a high-level delegation from California, President William Ruto highlighted the unique opportunities created by Californiaโ€™s leadership in technology and climate innovation and Kenyaโ€™s โ€œSilicon Savannah,โ€ powered by a young, digitally skilled workforce.

โ€œKenya leads in climate action, with a 93 percent renewable energy grid, targeting 100 percent by 2030 and 100 gigawatts by 2040,โ€ President Ruto said. โ€œTogether, we are advancing clean energy systems, smart agriculture, research, artificial intelligence, trade, and clean transportation, including the upcoming Africa Clean Transportation Centre of Excellence in Nairobi.โ€

The delegation, led by California State Secretary of Transportation Toks Omishakin, included state officials and private sector representatives. Also present was US Embassy Chargรฉ dโ€™Affaires Carla Benini.

California, the wealthiest US state, has been a key partner to Kenya in driving innovation and climate resilience. The two sides are now exploring new avenues for collaboration in clean technology, research partnerships, and sustainable trade.
