Nairobi – The Kenya Moja team, led by Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna, has emerged as one of the most vocal and visible youthful political formations in the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna and other lawmakers, consisting of MPs Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi, and Gathoni Wamuchomba, have been crisscrossing the country preaching an anti-President William Ruto crusade.
The team has been positioning itself as a new-generation movement, challenging the entrenched dominance of Kenyaโs โold schoolโ politicians.

However, the major question is whether this grouping has what it takes to convert energy, anger, and protest momentum into a winning electoral force by 2027 or whether it will become just another short-lived cloud in Kenyaโs turbulent political skies.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, political analyst Arnold Maliba said the Kenya Moja is likely to play a crucial role in the 2027 election.
According to Maliba, Sifuna’s team needs to broaden their movement and include more actors from different sectors.
Maliba pointed out that a majority of Kenyans are neither for broad-based government nor for the United Opposition, hence the likelihood of the Kenya Moja grabbing power in 2027.

However, Maliba pointed out that Sifuna’s team should shed off any links with their sponsoring political parties in order to convince Kenyans that they are ready to bring meaningful changes.

Ken Babu, the National Youth Chairperson of DAP-Kenya Party, and chair of the United Opposition youth league also agreed with Maliba’s sentiments that Kenya Moja is likely to act as a kingmaker in the upcoming polls.
He pointed out that Sifuna’s team would however require to forge alliances beyond ODM, courting disillusioned middle-class voters, and securing regional endorsements.
The youthful leader said Kenya Moja is a potential fundamental change in Kenya’s politics, provided its leaders invest in alliances, organisation and credible national messaging.
