After a two-day rest, the 8th edition of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) resumes today, Friday 22nd August, Kenya hosting Madagascar in the 1st quarter final from 5pm at Kasarani Stadium.
Harambee Stars will be facing the Barea of Madagascar today for only the 2nd time in history after Kenya emerged 1-0 victors in an international friendly on 7th June 2019.
Two-time champions Morocco, the Atlas Lions, will face hosts Taifa Stars of Tanzania at 8pm at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam in the 2nd match of the last 8 in the 8pm kickoff.
Defending champions Senegal, the Lions of Teranga, will take on Uganda’s Cranes at 5pm tomorrow at the Mandela National Stadium before last edition’s silver medallist, Algeria, concludes the round against the Nile Crocodiles of Sudan from 8pm at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
36 group matches have been played since the biennial tournament kicked off on 2nd August.
74 goals have been scored at the end of the group matches, with 3 players tied on 3 goals each: Thabiso Kutumela of South Africa, Uganda’s Allan Okelo and Ousama Lamlioui from Morocco.
9 other players have scored 2 goals, including Kenya’s Austin Odhiambo and Ryan Ogam.
The semifinals will be staged on the 26th of this month at Mandela and Benjamin Mkapa stadiums.
