Kenyan Stars Abroad: Job Ochieng Grabs Assist in Real Sociedad B's Bitter La Liga 2 Loss to Granada

Harambee Stars winger Job Ochieng grabbed himself an assist but it was not enough to help Real Sociedad B avoid a heavy thrashing to Granada in La Liga 2.

Harambee Stars winger Job Ochieng registered an assist but could not prevent Real Sociedad B from suffering a 5-2 defeat to Granada in a La Liga 2 clash on Saturday night.

Ochieng, who made his Kenya national team debut against Gambia in September, continued his positive form at club level with another lively display despite the heavy loss.

ย The winger played the opening 45 minutes, creating two key passes, completing one successful cross, and providing one big-chance assist before being substituted at halftime.

The 21-year-old set up Mikel Rodrรญguez for Sociedadโ€™s first goal, but by then, Granada had already taken full control of the encounter with a blistering start that saw them score five goals inside the opening half-hour.

Granadaโ€™s Senegalese forward Faye opened the scoring just three minutes into the match and went on to complete a brace, with Alcaraz, Sola, and Oscar all finding the net in a rampant first half for Pachetaโ€™s side. The hosts displayed ruthless efficiency, converting nearly every attack into a goal.

Despite trailing 5-1 at halftime, Real Sociedad B showed some fight after the restart. Manager Aitor Ansotegi made tactical adjustments that saw his side press higher and maintain more possession. Their efforts were rewarded when Rodrรญguez added a second for the visitors, bringing some respectability to the scoreline.

Granada, however, managed the remainder of the game comfortably, slowing the tempo and seeing out the result to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season.ย

The result lifts them off the bottom of the La Liga Hypermotion table, while Sociedad B now find themselves rooted to last place after another difficult outing.

Ochieng has now scored once and registered two assists this season.

Despite the defeat, the Kenyan youngsterโ€™s contribution provided one of the few bright spots for Sociedad B โ€” a small silver lining in an otherwise forgettable night in Andalusia.
