Kenyatta University is set to host an event dubbed ArtFest 2025 at its main campus in Nairobi, from August 27 to 29.

The opening ceremony will be open to the public on August 27 at a cost of KSh. 1,000 per person sent to M-Pesa paybill 625625 A/C 01021010781300. Confirmation messages should be sent to their email (artfest@ku.ac.ke).

In a statement released to KBC Digital, the organising committee said the event is an international, interdisciplinary, and trans-disciplinary conference that will bring together global scholars, artists, and students to explore the power of art in shaping society and preserving culture.

The conference will honour the late Prof. Francis Imbuga and the late Prof. Oluoch Obura, who were celebrated literary icons and passionate advocates of theatre and performance.

Kenyatta Universityโ€™s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul K. Wainaina, a vocal champion of the critical role played by the Arts in a well-developed and balanced education ecosystem, will be the chief guest.

The conference theme, โ€œArt, Identity and Transformation in a Globalised Worldโ€, will explore five sub-themes:

โ— AI and emerging technologies in language acquisition and application โ— Contemporary trends in literary production and consumption โ— The Digi-Creative Economy โ— Inclusive Edu-Arts โ— Climate Culture

Speaking to KBC Digital, the Chairperson of the ArtFest organising committee, Dr Mbithi, said that the event will host some notable personalities.

โ€œSome of the guests expected to attend the event include Churchill, Kenyan comedian, Media personality, O.G.W., who is an inspiration to many who may want to pursue art or theatre as a career choice and engage in the creative economy.โ€
