The Kenya Hockey Union has unveiled the leading squad to represent the country in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which will be held in Ismailia, Egypt, from October 11 to 18, 2025.

Speaking at a press briefing at City Park Stadium in Nairobi, the president of the Kenya Hockey Union, Nahashon Randiek, confirmed the selected 18 players for each of the men’s and women’s teams,ย describing the announcement as a milestone in Kenyaโ€™s preparations to reclaim its place among Africaโ€™s hockey powerhouses.

The coach also stated that the team comprises a menโ€™s and womenโ€™s blend of experienced players and a new generation of athletes, including several players who shone for Kenya at the U21 tournament in Namibia.

“We have included a number of U-21s who participated in Namibia. As we take part in this tournament, we are looking at the short and long-term development of the team.” He commented

According to Nashon, integrating youthful talent is a deliberate strategy aimed at building depth for future competitions, including the African Games and the Olympic qualifiers.

“We are targeting the African Games and the Olympics. We have to look at a four-year training program that is in line with our strategic plan, and that begins with this tournament,” he added.

He added that the training encountered challenges that, fortunately, did not hinder its progress. Hoping that there are no more challenges, the teams are set to depart between the eighth and the ninth of October.
