The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has dismissed widespread rumors of a leak of the incoming Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams.

In an official statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) platform on Friday, September 5, 2025, the national examination body categorically refuted the claims, assuring the public that the integrity of the assessments remains intact. The council addressed the circulation of documents being shared online; explicitly stating they are not genuine KNEC materials.

Accompanying the statement was a screenshot of the viral post, with a clear and direct warning from the council: “Please take note that these question papers doing the rounds on social media are not from KNEC. Do NOT be deceived! Stay alert!”

This strong rebuttal aims to prevent students and parents from falling prey to fraudsters who often use such tactics to scam anxious candidates, sometimes selling fake papers for exorbitant amounts of money. KNEC’s alert urges students to focus on their revision and rely on their hard work rather than seeking shortcuts that could lead to disqualification.

The council has further warned individuals circulating the fake papers to stop immediately, as distributing such materials is a serious criminal offense.

This comes amid the examination irregularity issues which frequently mar the integrity of the national exams. The council’s response is to quell the panic and maintain examination sanity.
