Ol Donnyo Sabuk National Park, located in Machakos County, is a popular destination offering a holistic and scenic experience. Gazetted in 1967, the park sits at an altitude of 8,000 feet and covers an area of 20.7 square kilometers.
It is located 65 kilometres from Nairobi, making it an accessible getaway.
The park was once the farm of American hunter William Macmillan and contains an “unusual burial site” 7.5 kilometers toward the summit.
The park is a haven for wildlife, including buffalo, bushbucks, porcupines, pythons, and rock hyrax. It’s also a paradise for bird watchers.
Visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking, picnicking, game viewing, camping, and team building.
From the park, one can even catch a glimpse of Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro.
