Makueni KUPPETโ€™s Justus Kimeu warns that without clear JSS structures by January, teachers may be moved to secondary schools.

Makueni Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) executive Secretary Justus Kimeu has called upon the government to establish a clear administrative framework for Junior Secondary Schools come January failure to which the union will be forced to direct the JSS teachers to report to the nearest secondary schools.

โ€œWe are demanding defined guidelines on the composition of Boards of Management, Parents Associations, and the roles of principals, deputies, and heads of departments to eliminate conflicts of interest and bring clear responsibilities on each,โ€ Kimeu said.

Like any other JSS teachers in the country, the Makueni JSS teachers, speaking at Makindu noted that there is need for full autonomy and immediate structural reforms to separate their operations from that of primary.

They further argued that the governments decision to domicile JSS within primary schools has brought about serious confusion leading to disruption of administration and cocuricular activities.
