Prominent city lawyer Steve Ogolla has finally addressed the widespread speculation about the end of his marriage to Cebbie Koks, sister to singer Akothee. His statement comes in the wake of a recent viral photo that sparked renewed public gossip about their separation.

The rumors reignited after a photo circulated online showing Ogolla at a Law Society of Kenya (LSK) event alongside a woman identified as Ivy Bavolyne. The sighting immediately led many to question the status of his union with Cebbie, which ended just months after their lavish traditional wedding.

Addressing the matter for the first time, Ogolla chose a dignified approach over sensationalism. In a brief online statement, he acknowledged the renewed public interest but firmly dismissed the rumors. “I have seen renewed interest, rumors and gossip around my marriage,” he wrote, adding that as a “rational thinker,” he is not permitted to comment substantively on the fate of his marriage, citing “the rules of decency and common courtesy.” His words signaled that the marriage ended respectfully and without scandal.

For her part, Cebbie has also been pressed on the topic in past interviews. In early 2024, she criticized the public’s focus on her personal life, questioning why her name changes or photo deletions mattered to others. She also reflected on her short-lived marriage, calling it a cherished event and admitting that it was still too early to call Ogolla her “friend” in the aftermath of their separation.
