Lugari Member of Parliament, (MP) Nabii Nabwera has called on students to embrace discipline, resilience, and hard work as essential tools for academic success and future opportunities.
The legislator was speaking during theย Soaring Heights Creaming Programย hosted atย Maturu Secondary School, where he joined more thanย 610 studentsย in a celebration of education and personal achievement. The event, which brought together learners, teachers, and community leaders, was designed to motivate students to aim higher and build a culture of academic excellence in Lugari.
In his address, Nabwera emphasized that education remains the most powerful equalizer in society and the surest foundation for a brighter future. โEvery effort invested today will shape tomorrowโs success,โ he told the students. โDiscipline and hard work are the keys that open doors to endless opportunities.โ
The MP also used the occasion to reaffirm his advocacy forย fair university funding, stressing that financial constraints should not stand in the way of learners who qualify for higher education. He argued that no student should be left behind, and urged stakeholders in education to create structures that ensure equal access for all.
โBy investing in education, we are investing in the dreams of our children and the future of Lugari. We must commit ourselves to building a system that empowers every learner to rise, soar, and achieve their potential,โ he said.
Keynote speakerย Prof. Pamela Abuyaย echoed Nabweraโs remarks, reminding students that success is not achieved in isolation. She encouraged learners to embrace teamwork, determination, and resilience in their academic journeys. โQuality grades are not just about intelligence; they are about perseverance, collaboration, and focus,โ she said.
Teachers and community leaders at the event praised the initiative, noting that it was helping instill confidence and ambition among students. Many described it as an important platform for shaping not only academic excellence but also values of discipline and self-belief.
The students, visibly motivated by the program, pledged to work harder and remain committed to their studies. Several said the event had inspired them to set higher goals and pursue careers that would make a difference in their communities.
