United States: Lyna Nyamwaya, a longtime resident of New Hope, Minnesota, has officially declared her candidacy for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 43A, which encompasses the cities of New Hope and Crystal.

District 43A includes nearly 50,000 residents across two cities.
Nyamwaya, who is seeking the DemocraticโFarmerโLabor (DFL) Party endorsement, asked for the residents’ trust and support as she seeks to represent them in the Minnesota Legislature.

She enters the race with endorsements from Senator Ann Rest and State Representative Cedrick Frazier, who is currently running for Hennepin County Attorney.
Originally from Kisii county, Kenya, Nyamwaya moved to the United States in pursuit of educational opportunities, first settling in Rockford, Illinois, before relocating to New Hope in 2002.
She and her husband are homeowners in the district and are raising two school-age children.
Nyamwaya has than two decades of professional experience as a registered nurse, educator, and entrepreneur.
She holds degrees from North Hennepin Community College and Metropolitan State University, and earned a Doctor of Education in Leadership from Spalding University.
She spent 15 years working at North Memorial Hospital and currently serves as an adjunct professor at St. Catherine University. She is also the founder of Bold Impact Group, LLC.
Her leadership earned national and international recognition. Nyamwaya has organised conferences, mentored professionals, and worked to unite diverse communities around leadership and economic empowerment.
She is a familiar face in her community, actively participating in local schools, neighbourhood events, and civic forums.
Nyamwayaโs legislative priorities include expanding access to affordable healthcare, improving education to prepare students for an AI-driven economy, and promoting safe and equitable housing.
She will also support labour unions and livable wages, strengthen local businesses, and protect the environment.
Nyamwaya emphasised her commitment to public service, stating that her candidacy is a way to give back to the community that has supported her journey.

Speaking exclusively with TUKO.co.ke, Sammy Ondimu, a celebrated police officer in Kenya, expressed pride and support for Nyamwaya, his cousin, following her endorsement.

He described the opportunity as rare and inspiring, noting that her candidacy is not just a personal milestone but a powerful moment for Kenya and women in leadership.
Ondimu added that the family is already celebrating her bold step, regardless of the election outcome, and hopes her journey will serve as a lesson and motivation for career women across the globe.
