African culture themed products have increasingly gained traction across the globe, with more Kenyan entrepreneurs now investing time and resources to produce these products. Wendo Crafts Africa is one such venture adding beauty to African products that range from kiondos to baskets and mirrors.

Terryโ€™s idea was inspired after she was conned online. Challenged, she embarked on making items she loved; from wall mirrors to clocks, baskets, bags, table mats

In the three years Wendo Crafts Africa has been in existence, Terry says her target customer base has expanded to include corporates and tourists.

“We target both corporates and individuals, people looking for unique handcrafted items. We also target resellers, both locally and internationally, we supply to the Maasai markets, we also sell to Kenyans in the US; we have a number of customers. We sell to curio shops around the country especially those with tourist points; places like Nyeri, Nanyuki, Naivasha and border points like Namanga,” Terry says.

With demand for Wendo Products going up, Terry looks forward to expanding the business and creating more employment opportunities for the youth within her community.

“We aspire to train more people, to employ more youth. Iโ€™d wish for a situation where we can also incorporate this in the technical vocational training institutes, and to grow Wendo Crafts from the small space we are now and also for our products to be known globally, and also as a person to leave a legacy,” she adds.
