As the clock ticks towards the November by-election in Malava constituency, locals have taken issue with former area Senator Cleophas Malalah.
Malalah, who is the deputy party leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), has taken a leading role in campaigning against the government in the area as he popularizes his party.
Malalah, a former Secretary General of the ruling party, has already unveiled the DCPโs party candidate, Edgar Busiega, for the vacant Malava seat.
In his campaigns, he has rallied the residents against the government-sponsored candidate under United Democratic Alliance (UDA) saying his DCP candidate has the best interest of the constituency.
However, it is emerging that he may have a difficult time to sell the party and his ideologies in the restive area as locals question his intentions.
The locals, who supported the ex-senator almost to a man in the past elections, have come out guns blazing accusing the former MCA of using and dumping them only to resurface when in need.
His disappearing act, they argue, is still fresh in their minds and are careful not to trust him again with their support saying he will again disappear.
They have put him to task to show what tangible project, initiative or programme he has ever championed in the rea for their benefit.
According to them, Malalah cannot be trusted to mobilise for any development project to the area since he has failed to do so before when he was in a pivotal position.
A section of the electorate have gone ahead and warned Busiega to be careful lest he taints his political career early by associating with the former senator.
