A middle-aged man is fighting for his life at Machakos Level 5 Hospital after a violent altercation in Mbooni, Makueni County, stemming from a suspected love triangle.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was allegedly caught in a compromising situation with another man’s wife inside their matrimonial home. The husband, who had just returned from work, is said to have found the two in bed, sparking a fierce confrontation.

Enraged, the husband reportedly attacked the man with blunt objects, leaving him with severe head injuries. Neighbours, alarmed by the commotion, called the police, who found the victim unconscious on the floor.

Police rushed the man to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had slipped into a coma. He is currently awaiting emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries.

Police confirmed that the husband and wife were taken into custody at Machakos Police Station. No formal charges have been filed yet, with investigators waiting for the medical outcome of the victim.

“If the man succumbs to his injuries, the charges could escalate to murder,” a police source revealed.

The case has reignited debate on the rise of domestic violence and love triangle-related attacks in rural and urban Kenya.
