A 53-year-old man was stabbed and killed in Mowlem, Nairobi, after bravely resisting a gang of four robbers during a Wednesday dawn attack.
Police identified the victim as Isaya Chiteri, who was walking home with his wife and daughter in the Penyanya area when they were ambushed by four men.
His wife and daughter managed to escape unhurt, but Chiteri attempted to fight off the attackers. In the struggle, he was stabbed in the chest below the breast.
Responders at the scene rushed Chiteri to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on arrival. Police confirmed that the gang made away with an undisclosed amount of money and valuables.
The suspects are still at large, with police confirming that a manhunt is underway. Nairobi police also said they have intensified operations targeting rising insecurity in the city.
