Real Madrid extended their unbeaten start to the LaLiga season with a 3–0 victory over Real Oviedo, earning their first away win at the ground since 1952.
Xabi Alonso surprised many with his starting XI, giving Franco Mastantuono and Rodrygo the nod while Vinicius Junior began on the bench.
The hosts, eager to stun the champions, nearly did so within 30 seconds, but their early spark quickly fizzled as Madrid seized control.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half. Arda Güler, showcasing his vision, slipped a clever pass to Kylian Mbappé, who with his back to goal spun effortlessly before drilling a precise finish into the bottom corner.
Oviedo adjusted their approach after the interval, trying to impose themselves higher up the pitch. Kwasi Sibo twice attempted ambitious long-range efforts, but lacked the accuracy to trouble Andriy Lunin.
Despite their intent, the hosts created little of note, while Madrid looked comfortable in possession.
The introduction of Vinicius Junior ultimately killed the contest. Linking up with Mbappé in the 77th minute, the Brazilian provided the assist for Madrid’s star striker to double the advantage.
That strike marked Mbappé’s third goal in just two LaLiga outings.
In stoppage time, Vinicius turned scorer, calmly finishing for his first goal of the season to seal the points.
The win places Madrid level at the top of the table, with Alonso’s side showing early signs of balance between youthful flair and proven quality.
