Tension gripped Emanwa location in Nyamache after villagers lynched a 32-year-old man who had earlier killed his father in a domestic feud.
According to police and residents, Enock Obwaya, 32, attacked his 80-year-old father, James Ongige Obwaya, following a heated quarrel at their home. Armed with a club, Enock fatally assaulted his father as his motherโs desperate attempts to intervene failed.
Witnesses said villagers tried to rush the injured man to hospital, but the suspect, now wielding a panga, threatened to attack anyone who attempted to help. The old man eventually succumbed to head injuries outside his gate.
Upon learning of the fatherโs death, enraged locals pursued Enock as he attempted to flee. He was cornered in a neighbouring village, beaten to death, and his body set ablaze before police arrived.
Investigations revealed that Enock had just been released on bail two days earlier after facing an assault case at the Ogembo Law Courts. His late father was listed as a key witness in that case, with residents suggesting this may have been the motive for the fatal attack.
Police moved both bodies to the mortuary pending autopsies and further investigations. Authorities have urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
