Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama has called on Kenya National Highways Authority(KENHA) to come out clear on the criteria that will be used to compensate individuals whose parcels of land or businesses will be affected by the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway.
Arama who spoke on Friday September 5, 2025 during public participation for Nakuru residents on the mega projects, stated that very many residents are still in darkness ok how the compensation will take place.
The Lawmaker who sits in the Roads Committee at the National Assembly called on KENHA to explain to the residents various aspects of the project including compensation.
He reiterated the need for value for the road to the people once the project is completed.
According to him, the citizens should not be charged expensively on using the road.
The Lawmaker added that the local contractors and locals should also be engaged in the lower roads.
Sentiments echoed by Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria.
Gikaria lauded KENHA for the public participation forum.
He noted that the project will be of great benefit to the people of Nakuru.
Nakuruย Constituents had time to air their views on Rironi-Mau Summit Highway Project.
According to KENHA, this is one of the largest project in the country and will serve the larger part of Rift valley and Nyanza.
Feasibility study done in 2015 through World Bank funding revealed the need to expand the Highway.
