A Kenyan police officer serving in Haiti under the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) died following a road accident along the KenscoffโPรฉtion-Ville road at Perlerin 9 on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
In a statement, MSS revealed on Tuesday, September 2 that Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve was injured during a recovery operation at around 5:00 p.m. and later pronounced dead at Lambert Santรฉ Hospital in Pรฉtion-Ville.
Born on March 8, 1984, in Machakos County, Nzuve joined the National Police Service in 2005 and served in the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU).
He was part of Kenyaโs third contingent to the MSS in Haiti, where he had been deployed after years of service in Narok and Baringo counties.
On Monday, September 1, MSS personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, and Guatemala joined colleagues from partner organizations DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld in a memorial service at the missionโs main dining facility in LSA1.
His remains were later flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation ahead of repatriation to Kenya.
In a statement, the MSS expressed gratitude to first respondersโincluding the Haitian National Police (PNH), the Forces Armรฉes dโHaรฏti (FAdโH), local residents, and MSS officersโfor their swift action in evacuating the injured. Several others hurt in the crash were reported to be out of danger.
“From all of us at MSS-Haiti, our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Nzuveโs family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss. We also wish a speedy recovery to those injured, who are thankfully out of danger,” a statement from MSS read in part, while extending its condolences to his family.ย

National Police Service spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga confirmed that the officerโs family has been informed of the incident.
He added that the MSS, in collaboration with the Haitian National Police, is overseeing arrangements to have the officerโs remains repatriated to Kenya.
