The dream of a cleaner, greener Africa will take center stage this Sunday as Munja Group, in partnership with House of Procurement (HOP), kicks off a historic electric vehicle (EV) road trip from Nairobi to Addis Ababa.
Dubbed Road to Addis, the six-day, 1,600-kilometre journey is more than just a test of battery power. Itโs a bold statement that Africa is ready to embrace sustainable mobility. A convoy of electric cars will roll out of Nairobi in a colorful public send-off on October 5, before weaving through towns and communities across Kenya and Ethiopia.
โ โAlong the way, the team will interact with locals, showcase charging technology, and share the possibilities of clean transport in everyday life. Organizers say the trip is not just about carsโitโs about sparking conversations on the future of travel, trade, and cross-border connectivity in Africa.
The convoy is powered by a consortium of leading industry players, organizations, and government stakeholders from both Kenya and Ethiopia. The journey will culminate on 10 October in Addis Ababa, just days before the Africa E-Mobility Week hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) from 14โ16 October.
Through this initiative, Munja Group and its partners aim to shine a light on the future of clean, connected, and sustainable transport across the continent.
โOur vision is to inspire Africans to believe that clean, connected, and sustainable transport isnโt just possibleโitโs here,โ Munja Group said inย aย statement.
