Mseto FC secured the menโs trophy with a tight 1-0 win, which earned them a significant annual prize of KES 250,000 and three years of coaching support.ย
Achievers FC won the womenโs final after a thrilling 5-4 penalty shootout.ย
Both teams will benefit from long-term mentorship through SportPesaโs Tujiamini program, reinforcing the eventโs goal to find and support talented players in local communities.
The menโs final saw Mseto FC defeat Victors Faith Church of Kasarani 1-0 in what was described as a fast-paced match.ย
The regional title was sealed in the 16th minute when Charles Baraza netted the decisive goal.
Following the victory, Mseto FC Head Coach Michael Branabe noted that the win marked a significant improvement for the team, which had been eliminated in the first round the previous year.
โThis time we came prepared with new attacking tactics that earned us victory,โ Branabe stated, adding that the prize money would be used to support the team.ย
Mseto FC player Delvin Kubari also commented on the intensity of the final, noting the team โmanaged to contain the game, pushed them into their half, and secured the win in the first half.โ
In the womenโs category, the final match between Achievers FC and UEFA Despanol Queens FC ended in a 2-2 draw during regulation time.ย
The regional crown was ultimately claimed by Ongata Rongaiโs Achievers FC, who won the subsequent penalty shootout with a score of 5-4.
As winners in the womenโs category, Achievers FC received a KES 50,000 one-off prize, while Mseto FC, the menโs champions, walked away with a KES 250,000 annual prize and kits to be renewed for the next three years.ย
Both winning teams will also benefit from three years of mentorship provided through SportPesaโs Tujiamini platform, which aims to nurture grassroots talent.
The Nairobi leg of the tournament attracted various grassroots teams from across the county, offering a platform to showcase talent.ย
Deborah Maina, Public Relations and Advertising Executive from SportPesa, stated that the Cheza Dimba event is โmore than just a football tournament; it is a platform for supporting talent, inspiring hope, and uplifting communities through the Tujiamini initiative.โย
Maina expressed hope of expanding the initiative to reach more young people across Kenya.
In addition to the main competition, the Nairobi event included โBronze Kwa Ground giveaways,โ which honored individual excellence and supported talented people and small businesses in sports, arts, media, and enterprise.ย
Following the conclusion of the Nairobi tournament, the Cheza Dimba initiative is scheduled to head to the Nyanza region, with Kisii town set to host the next edition.
