It was pomp and colour as a motorcade of the United Democratic Alliance party aspirant in the coming Malava constituency by-election David Ndakwa snaked through markets in the area as he headed to his village home in West Kabras ward for a special prayer meeting that was attended by people of all walks of life.
Ndakwa, a second term member of the county assembly and immediate former minority leader of Kakamega county assembly, crushed his rivals in a nomination exercise that was held on 20th September 2025.
In what is seen as a boost to his campaigns, his rivals in the party primaries Simon Kangwana, Rhyan Injendi, and Leornard Shimaka have rallied their support behind him.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa is also backing his candidature
He is a clear front runner in the race to replace late Mp Malulu Injendi, who died early this year after a short illness.
Ndakwa, who believes that an educated society is empowered, has promised to work on both infrastructural and academic standards improvement once elected on November 27th.
