Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi emerged as the best student in his Masterโ€™s in International Relations program during the 47th graduation ceremony at United States International University-Africa (USIU).

He shared the news on social media on Saturday, September 27, noting that he attained an impressive GPA of 3.913 out of 4.00.

Amisi further noted that his rise to success wasn’t easy, despite being among the top performers in the 2000 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in the former Western Province.

His result slip had shown that he scored 590 out of 700 marks, earning straight As in Mathematics, English, and Science.

Looking back on his modest upbringing, Amisi highlighted the difficult path he has traveled to reach his current position.

“25 years ago, an orphaned boy walked through the gates of Starehe Boys Center and School armed with only a padlock. This was after emerging as the top student in the Western region in the 2000 KCPE exams, and with no hope for high school fees, Starehe became the last hope.

“Today, the same boy graduates as top student in the Master of Arts in international relations from USIU University, amidst a convoluted political environment, coupled with the highly demanding public service work,” he stated.

The ODM second-term MP, now aligned with the Kenya Moja political outfit, said his new academic achievement would strengthen his work in legislation, representation, and oversight in Parliament.

He emphasized that the qualification would be particularly useful in his role on the Foreign Relations Committee.

Amisi serves on the National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee, is the Vice Chairperson of the Public Investments Committee, and is also part of the Appointments Committee, which is responsible for vetting government nominees before their approval.

The lawmaker was not the only popular figure to graduate from USIU. Media personality Willis Raburu graduated with a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from USIU-Africa.

“Willis Wayne Raburu – Master of Arts in Communication Studies from United States International University โ€“ Africa (USIU-Africa),” he wrote on his social media handles.

Radio Citizen presenter Selly Amutabi graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations, while CGTN Commissioning Editor Fathiya Mohamed Nur also graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations.
