Air India has hit the headlines again for all the wrong reasons. This time, passengers aboard Air Indiaโ€™s flight 180 were shocked when they spotted cockroaches roaming about on seats during flight.ย The presence of the cockroaches in the cabin was acknowledged by the airline.

โ€œOn flight AI180 from San Francisco to Mumbai via Kolkata, two passengers were unfortunately bothered by the presence of a few small cockroaches on board,โ€ the airline told the media.

โ€œDespite our regular fumigation efforts, insects can sometimes enter an aircraft during ground operations. We will be undertaking a comprehensive investigation to determine the source and the cause of this incident and implement measures to prevent recurrence. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to the passengers.โ€

Co-Op post

The airline has previously been accused of having compromising hygiene standards online. A while back, a passenger complained that they had found a dead bug in their on-flight meal. Passengers have also lamented over cabin lavatories that are not clean, broken seats, and malfunctioning infotainment systems onboard.

A traveler recently reviewed their experience with the airline as follows;

NCBA

โ€œI recently flew Air India Mumbai to Hyderabad expecting at least decent service. Instead, I was met with one of the most unhygienic conditions I have ever seen on a flight. The window was coated in grease and had strands of hair stuck to itโ€”absolutely disgusting and clearly not cleaned before my flight,โ€ they said.

โ€œMy seat was filthy, with visible dirt and what appeared to be dandruff or skin flakes from a previous passenger. This is not just unclean, it is a serious health hazard in a confined space where hygiene should be a priority. I genuinely felt sick to my stomach witnessing this. How can a national carrier allow such negligence in basic cleanliness? This isnโ€™t just poor service; itโ€™s a biohazard that puts passengers at risk of infections and allergies.โ€
