Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has charged Bernard Kipkosgei Koyumi, also known as Pavilion Kipkosgei, over the violent robbery and assault of comedian Carren Chepchumba, popularly known as Bella Comedy, during a cultural festival at Carnivore Gardens in Nairobi.
Pavilion Kipkosgei appeared before the Kibera Law Courts on Tuesday, August 12, to answer charges of robbery with violence and assault causing actual bodily harm.
In a statement issued the same day, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said the accused allegedly stole Ksh30,000 in cash and a Redmi 14 Pro smartphone worth Ksh26,000 from Bella Comedy.
The ODPP said the attack took place between 8:00 PM within the festival grounds in Langata Sub-County.
The prosecution alleges that the businessman attacked the content creator by dragging her and beating her with kicks and punches, leaving her with injuries to her leg, stomach, and chest. Alongside the robbery charge, Pavilion Kipkosgei faces a separate assault count for the harm he is accused of inflicting during the attack.
โIt was during the content creation when she met the accused person, who dragged her and assaulted her with kicks and blows, causing multiple injuries on her leg, stomach, and chest,โ reads part of the statement.
Pavilion Motiryot denied all the charges. The court released him on a Ksh500,000 bond.
