Peter Ayiro, the Alliance Girls’ High School teacher accused of serious grooming allegations involving students, has resigned from his position.
In a letter dated August 19, Ayiro informed the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) that his resignation would take effect immediately.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the Teachers Service Commission, effective immediately under the terms and conditions of service,” he stated.
In July, reports emerged that the German teacher, who also doubled as the Christian Union (CU) patron at the renowned school, was accused of grooming students and engaging in sexual relationships with them once they turned of age.
In his resignation letter, Ayiroโwho had taught for 26 yearsโstated that the claims made by several alumni had completely disrupted his life.ย He maintained that the allegations were unfounded, adding that he had endured online harassment, threats, and even rejection from his church community.
“This decision has not come easily. It is a result of the false accusations levelled against me. I continue to endure evil, monstrous and persistent cyberbullying, threats of physical harm, public humiliation, and even being ostracised from my church,” Ayiro claimed.
Adding, “This has been an attack on my character, career and social standing, putting me under great stress and strain.”
Even so, he thanked the commission for the years he had served as a teacher, saying the role had given him immense experience and personal growth. He also urged TSC to continue upholding fairness, transparency, and support for its staff.
In closing, he disclosed that he had already remitted an amount equal to one monthโs salary in lieu of serving a notice period.
On July 15, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) ordered Ayiro to proceed on a mandatory 30-day leave amidst investigations into accusations of sexual misconduct against him.
He was accused of violating several sections of the Teachers Service Commission Act as well as the Code of Regulations for Teachers (CORT), with the TSC describing the actions as clear cases of professional misconduct.
โIt has been alleged that you have breached Clause (a) of the Third Schedule to the Teachers Service Commission Act, Regulation 141 of the Code of Regulations for Teachers (CORT) and Clause 22 of the Code of Conduct and Ethics in that on various dates while stationed at Alliance Girls High School as a teacher, you engaged in acts and omissions that amount to professional misconduct,โ a letter seen by Viral Tea at the time read in part.
This followed an exposรฉ byย Africa Uncensoredย journalist and Alliance Girls alumna Christine Mungai, who revealed that Ayiro had crossed emotional and, at times,ย physical boundariesย with current and former students.
The investigationโtitledย โThe Teacher and the Systemโโdetailed decades-long grooming and abuse by Ayiro. Supported by personal testimonies, private messages, and internal accounts, the report exposed a pattern of emotional manipulation and sexual exploitation made possible by institutional silence and protection.
The report highlighted a broader institutional failure: multiple formal complaints, dating back to 2018 and 2021, had been ignored. Teachers who recognised inappropriate dynamics rarely took action, citing fear or resignation due to a protective system around the accused.
Shortly before the report was set to be published, Ayiro filed a lawsuit aiming to halt its release. The court initially granted an injunction, arguing that the publication could cause him irreparable harm, such as damage to his reputation, possible job loss, and what he described as โsevere character assassination.โ However, the injunction was eventually lifted, allowing the report to be made public.
