Beauty influencer and entrepreneur Phoina Tosha has extended a heartfelt gesture to singer Marya, weeks after the Chokoza hitmaker revealed she had suffered a stroke.
In a video shared online, Marya was seen being assisted into Phoinaโs beauty spa, where she was warmly welcomed. The singer received a pedicure and manicure, with Phoina personally ensuring she was comfortable throughout the visit.
Marya appeared in good spirits during the pampering session, smiling and later showing off her freshly done nails. The outing marked a positive step forward since her emotional interview with comedian Eric Omondi, where she revealed the stroke had left one side of her body paralysed.
Celebrating Maryaโs resilience, Phoina wrote:โStrength looks different on everyone, and today, it looked like a fresh pedicure and a big smile. At Phoina Beauty, we celebrate courage, healing, and self-care. @official_maryakenya we are happy to be part of your journey.โ
Marya, born Mary Maina, is best known for her 2010 smash hit Chokoza alongside Avril. She recently revealed that her stroke was caused by a blood clot that cut off oxygen to her brain.
Her close friend Avril also updated fans through Instagram, sharing a message from Maryaโs family:โShe has since been discharged and is recovering at home. Physiotherapy is ongoing twice a day, and although the left side of her body remains unresponsive, we remain hopeful and encouraged by her strength.โ
Maryaโs story has reignited conversations about the challenges artists face beyond the spotlight. Once a leading act under Ogopa Deejays, she enjoyed massive success with songs like Hey Baby and Sishiki Simu. But she has also openly admitted to financial struggles after her early fame.โI became famous and got money at a very young age, but I had no guidance. Suddenly, I was broke. It was a mistake, but I learnt my lesson,โ she shared in a past interview.
Despite her setbacks, Maryaโs recent public appearances show progress and determination. Her spa day with Phoina highlighted not just healing, but also the love and support she continues to receive from fans.
Messages of encouragement flooded social media, with many Kenyans praising her courage and wishing her a full recovery.
