A stolen police officerโs pistol was found abandoned in a toilet cubicle in Kehancha, Migori County.
The Duma model pistol, which had 15 bullets in it, was found in the corner of the toilet cubicle and wrapped in a pink shopping bag on Tuesday afternoon.
This was two days after it went missing from the same bar on Sunday night, according to the police.
A cleaner on duty found the weapon and called the authorities.
Police said that it was not clear who had left the weapon in the toilet and that they had launched an investigation.
Following the incident, local police arrested and detained a Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer based in Kuria, as well as a woman who was with him, pending an investigation.
A police corporal attached to the Kuria DCI offices had been to a bar in the area with a female reveller when he realised that his Duma pistol, which held 15 bullets, was missing.
The woman he was with was arrested following the incident on Sunday at 9pm.
A search was conducted, but the weapon was not found.
A stranger had been seen talking to the two of them earlier, before she disappeared, and it is suspected that she stole the weapon.
It was then that the officer reported the matter, after which he and the woman were detained while the police investigation continued.
