Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has appealed to Kenyans to remain patient with the inconveniences linked to the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN), saying the temporary challenges are necessary for Kenya to deliver a safe and successful tournament.
Speaking at Baba Dogo, one of the designated venues for fans to follow the matches, Dr. Omollo acknowledged delays and congestion but stressed that heightened security checks and crowd control measures are essential.
He noted that the CHAN experience is a โdress rehearsalโ for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya will co-host.
Beyond security, the PS revealed that preparations for AFCON 2027 are already taking shape.
He confirmed that Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret and Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega are earmarked for upgrades, with government funding secured to ensure they meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.
Dr. Omollo urged fans to embrace patience and cooperation, underlining that smooth hosting of CHAN will strengthen Kenyaโs reputation and readiness for AFCON.
โThis is more than a football tournament it is a chance to showcase our ability to organize and secure major international events,โ he said.
