Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s party, Democratic Conservative Party (DCP), has announced a major peaceful procession to welcome him back to Kenya following his return from the United States.

According to a statement issued by Cleophas Malala, the deputy party leader of DCP, Rigathi Gachagua is expected to jet into the country on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at noon.

The party revealed that thousands of supporters will join the peaceful procession, which will begin at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), proceed through Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), and culminate at Kamukunji Grounds, where Gachagua will address a major public rally.

The procession is expected to be one of the largest political gatherings in recent months, symbolizing Gachagua’s growing influence and support base. According to The Standard, Gachagua’s recent international engagements have sparked speculation about his political strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.

DCP leaders have emphasized that the event will be peaceful and inclusive, urging supporters to turn up in large numbers to welcome their leader.

Political analysts believe the Kamukunji rally could serve as a stage for Gachagua to make critical announcements regarding his political future. In the past, Kamukunji has hosted major political declarations, and observers are keen to see whether Gachagua will outline his strategy to challenge President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza dominance.
