Kenya Esports Federation president Rony Lusigi has hailed the launch of the Esports Nations Cup, calling it a milestone that will give Kenyan players a bigger platform to showcase their talent.

The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) on Tuesday unveiled the new global competition, which will feature four popular titles: EA FC 25, PUBG Mobile, Dota 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Nations from around the world will send representatives to battle for glory later this year.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Lusigi expressed optimism that Kenya will not only participate but also make its presence felt.

“We welcome the move by the Esports World Cup Foundation to establish the Esports Nations Cup. This is an exciting prospect for the world of esports. Nothing beats competing for national pride,” said Lusigi.

He added: “Kenya has strong local communities in two of the four titles selected—EA FC and PUBG Mobile. We look forward to taking part.”

In recent years, Kenya has stepped up efforts to grow esports, rolling out grassroots competitions and regional qualifiers. The inclusion of EA FC and PUBG Mobile, both hugely popular among local gamers, is seen as a golden opportunity for Kenyan players to test themselves against the world’s best.

Beyond competition, the Nations Cup is expected to legitimize esports further as a competitive discipline while providing Kenyan gamers with valuable international exposure—fueling the continued rise of the country’s esports scene.
