President William Ruto has called for a meeting with Kiambu County leaders to review the development charter he signed with them ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Speaking to congregants in Kiambu on Sunday, Ruto reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling every pledge he made to the countyโs residents. He noted that several promises had already been met, including the completion of stalled road projects aimed at improving the movement of people and goods.
โI have the report card with me, all that we signed together with you people, has been delivered or is being worked on. Those that are still not yet done will be done,โ assured Ruto.
โWe need to sit down and review the charter so that you can correct me where I have not fulfilled. Hiyo itaonyesha Ile kazi mlinipea nimefikisha wapi. This will show you the work that you gave me to do, how far I have done it, and if there are gaps, I will correct them,โ Ruto added.
Ruto said Kiambu County has received more infrastructure investment from his administration than any other county in the past two years, with the national government channeling Ksh.40 billion into road construction alone.
โI have invested so much money in the infrastructure of this county than any other county in the last two years Kenya Kwanza Administration has been in office,โ said Ruto.
He reaffirmed that his government will ensure every part of the country benefits from development projects. Ruto added that Kenyaโs economy remains stable and pledged to complete all stalled projects nationwide, including those in Kiambu.
The President promised to commission the Mau SummitโMalaba road, the Naivasha dual carriageway, and a six-lane highway to Nakuru. He made a promise that the projects will be completed and ready for use before the 2027 general elections.
Ruto also directed all level 1 to 3 hospitals, including sub-county hospitals, to offer free outpatient services, saying the national government will settle the charges under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
He cautioned Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi against allowing hospitals to charge outpatients despite receiving UHC funds from the national government.
In addition, Ruto donated Ksh.5 million to support the completion of the PCEA Joshua Matenjwa Memorial Church.
