President William Ruto on Saturday made a light-hearted jab at his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, saying he may not have been adequately educated for the role of deputy president.

Speaking during theย Walimu na Raisย Forum at State House, Nairobi, Ruto stressed the importance of leaders surrounding themselves with highly educated deputies in order to thrive.

โ€œIf you want to succeed, you put people who are more intelligent than you. When they help you shine, you take the credit while they are the ones who are doing the job,โ€ Ruto told the gathering.

The remark came as the President used the teacher engagement forum to emphasize the value of knowledge and expertise in leadership.
