Shujaa players celebrates lifting the Safari 7s rugby tournament Trophy with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba.

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has confirmed that the 2025 Safari 7s tournament will take place at the Nyayo National Stadium from October 10 to 12.

According to the KRU, the 27th edition of Africaโ€™s premier rugby sevens tournament will return to Nyayo.

โ€œThe Kenya Rugby Union has today confirmed that the 2025 Safari 7s tournament will take place at the Nyayo National Stadium. This will be the first time the tournament has been held here since 2021, when Shujaa emerged victorious,โ€ read a statement from the union.

The tournament is set to return to Nyayo for the first time since 2021, when Shujaa beat Germany in the final to lift the trophy. The 2023 edition took place at the RFUEA Grounds, and the 2024 edition was held at Machakos Stadium.

This will be the fourth time the Safari 7s is hosted at the 35,000-seater Nyayo National Stadium. The venue previously hosted the tournament in 2011 and 2012 following a surge in attendance, which the RFUEA Grounds could no longer accommodate.

Kenya Shujaa and Costa Blanca Ladies are the current defending champions, having claimed the menโ€™s and womenโ€™s titles respectively during the 2024 tournament in Machakos.
