Safina Party has poached Florence Atieno popularly known as Atis Dollar, from ODM, as its National Women Coordinator.

The unveiling took place on Thursday 25 September at the Party’s headquarters, Kwacha House in Westlands, Nairobi. 

The event drew over 200 Nairobi women leaders from several constituencies.

In her maiden speech, Atis Dollar expressed gratitude to the party for recognizing the role of women and Gen Z in shaping Kenya’s future. She pledged to unite women across the political and social divides urging them to work together and seize opportunities within the party.

 “As the National Women Coordinator, I will ensure that women are treated equally in Safina. We must stand together and put aside our differences,” she said.

The women leaders present  pledged to support her in strengthening women’s leadership within the party and amplifying women’s role in Kenya’s political and economic future emphasizing on the need to end ethnic politics.

The occasion was graced by Safina Party leader, Jimi Wanjigi and his Deputy Willis Otieno.

The women leaders from Nairobi also requested their party leader, Jimi Wanjigi to facilitate voters registration and ensure that women are not neglected in his party. They further called for economic empowerment through initiatives such as table banking.

Wanjigi on his part welcomed Atieno’s appointment describing her as a resilient leader with influence in Nairobi.

“Atis Dollar ndiye Nairobi mwenyewe na ukiona amekuja hapa kuna kitu ameona,” ( “Atis Dollar is Nairobi herself and when you see her here there is something she has seen” ) He noted.

Wanjigi further explained that with Florence Atieno in the party they will be able to achieve the party’s manifestos. 

While accusing the Kenya Kwanza administration for overtaxing Kenyans without delivering development, Wanjigi highlighted manifestos under the Safina Party.

 Among the reforms  are free universal healthcare, free primary and secondary education, an end to domestic borrowing,16% VAT replaced with 5% Sales tax.

The party leader also reaffirmed that should the Safina Party seize power in 2027, Citizens will not plead for handouts from the Government since they will have their own money, “Hamtaitisha pesa kwa serikali maana mtakuwa nazo kwa mfuko.” (“You will not have to beg for handouts from the Government since you will have your own.”)

Wanjigi used the occasion to rally women behind a mass voters registration drive set to resume on Monday 29 September, asking women coordinators to mobilize citizens to acquire voter’s card.
