Nairobi, Kenya – Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian has secured a court order preventing her former partner, Musa Hussein Lenyumpa, from contacting or associating with her in any form.

In a ruling delivered by Magistrate Festus Terer, the court barred Musa from assaulting, threatening, harassing, or interfering with the Senator’s private life. Additionally, he is prohibited from using her name, image, or likeness for any personal or commercial purposes.

“This harassment has endangered my safety, violated my privacy, and damaged my professional reputation,” Senator Lemaletian told the court.

The case will be heard again on September 22, 2025, when both parties will present arguments on whether the orders should be extended.

Through her lawyer, Danstan Omari (source), the Senator clarified that she and Musa were only involved in a Samburu customary courtship, which she later revoked.

She explained that Musa never paid her dowry and that the KSh100,000 “ropiyani e loip” he gave her was a token of appreciation under Samburu tradition — money she has since refunded in full.

According to Lemaletian, Musa has issued death threats, committed acts of physical violence, and spread false claims that they were married.

The case has drawn attention to how customary relationships intersect with modern Kenyan law, especially in matters involving public figures.
