Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has confirmed her relay plans for Tokyo while placing her trust in Shericka Jackson and Tina Clayton to deliver for Jamaica.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has revealed her main goal going into her final World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, scheduled for September 13 to 21.

The 10-time world champion is looking forward to bowing out in style, having maintained a great resume from the time she made her World Championships debut in 2007.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce competed in the womenโ€™s 4x100m relay before winning her first gold medal in 2009. She maintained her dominance in the 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2022 and 2023 editions.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, earlier this season, announced that the Tokyo showpiece will be her final, and she has made her intentions clear ahead of the event.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce recalled that when she started, people said she was too young and inexperienced. She added that for anyone chasing a dream, they should continue to believe there is more.

Fraser-Pryce emphasised that no one gets to decide for you, and said she wanted to be mindful and celebrate everything.

โ€œMy ultimate goal is to stand on the podium, of course. In 2007, I started my career, and it was actually in Japan and at that time, I was 19, not sure of what I wanted, and the direction I was going,โ€ Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce added.

โ€œFast forward, to be here, I know who I am, a very capable individual and trusting that God has more for me. In this moment, I want to stand on the podium.โ€

The three-time Olympic champion added that teaming up with Shericka Jackson and Tina Clayton promises great things for Jamaica.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce added that Shericka Jackson has the experience of competing on the global stage, and she will not disappoint.

She expressed confidence in Tina Clayton, adding that, having competed on the junior stage, she can transform that into the senior category.

โ€œI think our chances are great. Shericka has been here before so many times, and I think itโ€™s new for Tina, but she has been in the junior championship,โ€ she added.

โ€œShe is a double winner, and I think she has the experience, and she is a fierce competitor, and I think that will serve her well.โ€

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce revealed that it was up to each person to do what was best for them and to get into the final. She added that many people would have their favourites, and that was fine.

She mentioned that she is always rooting for Jamaica, believing they have a solid team, and promised that they were going to do their best.

โ€œI have made myself available for the 4x100m, and I will not ditch Jamaica, so donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll be here,โ€ she noted.

As Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce prepares to take her final bow on the World Championships stage, her determination and commitment to Jamaica remain as strong as ever.
