Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declined an invitation by Kitui County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto to attend this yearโ€™s Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled for October 20th at Ithookwe Stadium.

Speaking in Mwingi North, Kalonzo said he would not participate in a government event where opposition leaders are denied the chance to address the public. He accused the state of growing intolerance towards dissenting voices and suppressing free political expression.

โ€œI want to tell Mr. Kipchumba Rutoโ€”you invited me to the Mashujaa Day event in Kitui, but I will not attend. Your namesake, the President, will be there because he has the freedom to go anywhere he pleases,โ€ Kalonzo stated.

The former Vice President also took a swipe at the Kenya Kwanza administration, claiming it had shown hostility to constructive criticism and was increasingly sidelining opposition figures.

In his remarks, Kalonzo also voiced distrust in the newly reconstituted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), describing it as compromised and unfit to oversee a credible election.

Despite this, the Wiper leader expressed confidence in his 2027 presidential ambitions, vowing to remain vigilant and safeguard the vote.

โ€œWe cannot trust Rutoโ€™s IEBC, but we are confident of victory. We will have a parallel tallying center and announce the results before 8 am the following morning,โ€ he declared.
