Prominent city lawyer Silas Jakakimba has once again stirred public debate after posting a photo of himself sharing a simple meal with his ex-wife, Florence Adhiambo, just weeks after the two publicly confirmed their separation.

The couple had announced their split on July 17, 2025, after three years of marriage. In a joint statement, they described the decision as mutual and deeply considered, made with the guidance of close family and spiritual leaders. At the time, both emphasised their commitment to safeguarding their familyโ€™s well-being and asked for privacy, stating no further public remarks would follow.

Despite that earlier stance, Jakakimba reignited speculation on Saturday, August 23, when he shared an undated photo of himself and Florence dining at a modest eatery.

The picture showed the pair seated before plates of ugali, fish, soup, and vegetables, with the restaurantโ€™s owner, Anyango, standing beside them.

In his caption, Jakakimba playfully praised the establishment, dubbing it โ€œthe JW Marriott of the Lower Karen area.โ€ He went on to note that Florence herself approved of the spot, writing:โ€œHere at Kenyatta Market at Anyangoโ€™s, the JW Marriott of the Lower Karen area, where fish from Subaland is served hot with hot ugali. Florence and The Fisherfolk recommend Anyangoโ€™s fish anytime.โ€

The post quickly went viral, with social media users split in their reactions. Some speculated on whether the photo was taken before or after their split, while others applauded the pair for maintaining civility after their breakup. Meanwhile, Anyangoโ€™s fish joint earned widespread praise and free publicity thanks to the endorsement.

In their initial statement, the former couple stressed that their choice to part ways was made with mutual respect and gratitude for the support of their families and spiritual leaders.

โ€œThis decision was reached mutually and with respect for one another, noting with deep appreciation the immense love and support from both sides of our innermost families and spiritual leaders as we sought to make this decision public,โ€ read part of the announcement.

Jakakimba further emphasised the importance of privacy, making it clear that neither he nor Florence would provide additional commentary on the matter.

Jakakimba is a well-known figure in Kenyan political and legal circles. A lawyer by training, he served as a close aide to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for nearly two decades.

He has also held several public roles, including sitting on the Board of Directors of the South Nyanza Sugar Company and briefly serving as a legal advisor to Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

Outside of law and politics, Jakakimba is a familiar face on social media, where he frequently shares insights into his professional and personal life โ€” the latest being his now-viral kibanda lunch date with his ex-wife.
