National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula has called on leaders to reject divisive politics and instead focus on conversations that seek to address the pertinent issues faced by Kenyans.

Speaking in Trans Nzoia county where he graced two empowerment meetings targeting women in Kwanza and Cherangany Constituencies, the Speaker expressed disappointment in the conduct of leaders from the county who had resolved to spread hate, division and mete insults on fellow leaders.

He went on to urge leaders to use the public gatherings to speak to the issues that affect the people and offer solutions, find like-minded individuals and strengthen their political muscle.

With his silence over the constant attacks by area Governor George Natembeya having raised questions, the Speaker took on the matter head on firmly stating that “political maturity is very critical, you have watched me grow over the years, with the level I have reached I cannot respond to individuals who are yet to make their mark.”

“Those that are saying we should end the programme should know it is here to stay, we want resources to trickle down to those at the bottom of the chain,” said Farouk.

“Women bear the burden of many families, when a woman is empowered, the home and community is empowered.” Stated Wetang’ula

The Trans Nzoia Woman Representative Lilian Siyoi urged the women on telling them to multiply the resources.

Area Senator Allan Chesang criticized Governor Natembeya claiming he was using public resources to fight political wars in other regions and counties while not removing the log in his own eyes.

The Speaker further congratulated farmers from the region to taking up the government fertilizer subsidy program saying he had personally seen the impact that would see the nation significantly increase the amount of maize harvested across the country.
