The Tanzanian government has dismissed reports that Kenyan football fans purchased all the tickets for the upcoming Tanzania versus Morocco match to prevent local supporters from attending the game. The administration, led by President Samia Suluhu, has branded the claims as false and an attempt to intimidate Tanzanian fans.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Tanzanian government spokesperson Gerson Musigwa accused Kenyans of spreading the fake claims, saying they were โ€œyappingโ€ out of fear of the Tanzanian team. He went on to assure Tanzanian fans that their government had taken the necessary measures to secure enough space at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Musigwa urged fans to disregard the online rumors and show up at the stadium gates, promising that every supporter would have a chance to enter and cheer for their team.

โ€œThe claims going around that they have purchased all the tickets for our match are untrue,โ€ he said. โ€œCome to the stadium gates, and you will enterโ€ฆ Do not fear. They are yapping because they fear us.โ€

The match between Tanzania and Morocco is scheduled for Thursday at 8 pm at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, a tough test for the Taifa Stars as they face a formidable opponent. The governmentโ€™s public statement appears to be an effort to counter online misinformation and ensure a successful and well-attended event.
