The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League is the top tier football league in Kenya, and is undoubtedly the dream tournament to many local players.

The league is composed of 18 teams that battle out for the bragging rights of being declared the national champions. Despite the myriad of challenges that teams face, the league remains competitive especially with clubs bagging multimillion sponsorship deals in recent years.

According to FKF President Hussein Mohamed, this new season will see the winner walk away with Ksh 15 million prize money, while the second placed team will be awarded Ksh 3 million. The third team will be rewarded Ksh 2 million. The expected pay bonanza will come to fruition due to a lucrative sponsorship deal between FKF and Azam.

“When we were elected into office eight months ago. I promised the clubs that we will significantly increase the league’s prize money,” he told Mozzart Sports.

Previously, only the winner was tipped with Ksh 5 million.

Away from prize monies, the clubs also reward winning bonuses to their players.

1) Bandari, KCB & Nairobi United – Ksh 10000

Mombasa based Bandari FC pays each player Ksh 10000. This amount is the same for bankers KCB while newly promoted Nairobi United also pays this figure to its players. Nairobi United is associated with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

2). Kakamega Homeboyz – Ksh 8000

The abana ba ingo owned by Kakamega tycoon Cleophas Shimanyula renumerates each player Ksh 8000 as a winning bonus.

4). AFC Leopards – Ksh 6500
