On Friday, August 22, motorists using the Thika Superhighway will face traffic disruptions as the police set up roadblocks at Muthaiga and the Ruiru interchange ahead of the Harambee Starsโ€™ African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) quarter-final against Madagascar at the Kasarani Stadium.

In a statement, the National Police Service advised motorists travelling from the city centre to Thika Road to use Exit 4 onto Kiambu Road, and those travelling from Thika, Juja or Ruiru to Nairobi to use the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road. Vehicles without access passes to Kasarani will be diverted to service lanes at Exits 7 and 8.

For fans and visitors heading to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium, those without vehicle access passes should use the Service Lane at both Exit 7 and Exit 8.

The National Police Service continues to work closely with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth management of traffic throughout the city during this busy period.

Additional police officers have been deployed across key points to enforce traffic rules and maintain order.

Motorists have been urged to cooperate with officers on site and adhere to the traffic guidelines to avoid congestion and delays.

The police have urged motorists to comply with officers at diversion points and have warned that those flouting traffic rules will face stern action.

The disruption coincides with Kenyaโ€™s first appearance in the knockout stage of a continental tournament in 38 years.

Head coach Benni McCarthy earlier urged his squad to manage the occasion with composure.

โ€œThis is a massive occasion not just for the players and coaches but for the country as well,โ€ said McCarthy at a press conference.
