Speaking at Saboti sub-county hospital on Thursday, October 2, when he received a consignment of drugs worth KSh 4.2 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), Naibei said that such individuals would be dealt with ruthlessly.

He further stated that stealing drugs sabotages the promise of Governor George Natembeya under his famous Ukombozi manifesto.

During the 2022 gubernatorial campaigns, Natembeya promised the more than one million residents of Trans Nzoia that he would give them quality health services.

For some time, patients seeking services in county-run health facilities have been forced to buy drugs from private chemists or go to public hospitals outside Trans Nzoia.

Some patients who spoke to TUKO.co.ke urged the county to ensure that there is a steady supply of drugs in all public hospitals in Trans Nzoia.

The drugs received are part of a KSh 70 million worth of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical supplies procured by Natembeya’s administration.

Meanwhile, the sub-county hospital board caucus chairperson decried the slow remittance of Social Health Authority (SHA) claims to health facilities.

Naibei argued that such delays hurt health facilities that rely heavily on SHA claims to survive.

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that private hospitals across the country had halted services for all Kenyans registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA).

The decision follows the hospitals’ demand for payment of previous claims amounting to over KSh 76 billion.

All Kenyans seeking treatment using SHA are now required to pay in cash.
