‘Tusichome Game’ – KEFOFA Urges Harambee Stars Fans After CAF Sanctions Kenya Over Kasarani Stadium CHAN 2024 Ordeal

CAF has fined FKF over KES 12 million and restricted ticket sales for Harambee Stars’ clash against Zambia to just 27,000, slashed from 48,000 following chaotic scenes witnessed at Kasarani Stadium over three games.

The Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA) has issued a heartfelt appeal to Harambee Stars supporters, calling for discipline, unity and respect after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) slapped Kenya with heavy sanctions over chaotic scenes at Kasarani Stadium.

CAF fined the Football Kenya Federation USD 98,500 (approximately KSh 12.5 million) for crowd control failures witnessed during Harambee Stars’ CHAN 2024 matches against DR Congo, Angola and Morocco.

The governing body also capped home match attendance at 27,000 – just 60 per cent of Kasarani’s capacity – in a bid to prevent further safety lapses.

CAF has imposed an additional $50,000 fine on Kenya for safety and security breaches during the Harambee Stars’ CHAN 2024 match against Morocco.

The most troubling incidents came during Kenya’s 1-0 triumph over two-time champions Morocco, where what happened beyond the pitch threatened to overshadow the historic win.

Broken gates, unauthorised entries, and dangerous overcrowding left CAF demanding urgent changes.

In a statement seen by Pulse Sports, KEFOFA stressed that CHAN 2024 is about far more than just football – it is an opportunity to safeguard Kenya’s image as proud and responsible hosts.

Government orders six official fanzones in Nairobi ahead of Harambee Stars clash against Chipolopolo.

“This is our moment,” KEFOFA declared. “Let’s show Africa and the world that Kenyan fans are not only passionate, but also disciplined, united, and proud hosts.”

The federation urged fans to bring the colour and energy the Harambee Stars thrive on – singing, dancing and cheering – while treating security staff, officials and fellow supporters with respect.

The message was clear: protecting the game is just as important as watching it, ensuring CHAN 2024 is remembered for its magic on the pitch rather than mishaps off it.

With Kenya pushing for a place in the quarter-finals, KEFOFA has pledged to work closely with CAF, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to guarantee safe, joyous match days.

The Harambee Stars shotstopper has had to overcome alot of challenges to become the commanding presence he is in goal nowadays.

The Harambee Stars will face Zambia in their final Group A clash on Sunday, 17th August, at 3:00 PM – a match where victory could see them progress as group winners, and where the stands will be just as important as the scoreboard.
